Golf Simulator Room Measuring Checklist

Core measurements (write them down)

• Ceiling height at the lowest point over the hitting area (beams, ducts, lights) — ft
• Room width wall to wall where the screen will go — ft
• Room width at the hitting position — ft
• Room depth from back wall to front (screen) wall — ft
• Height of each golfer who will use the simulator
• Garage only: ceiling height under the opened door and opener rail — ft

Check against published specs

• Behind-the-ball radar: maker distance behind the ball + ball-to-net fits your depth (Garmin R10: 6–8 ft + at least 8 ft)
• Beside-the-ball camera: depth for backswing, ball flight and screen gap (SkyTrak calls 17 ft deep comfortable)
• Ceiling vs SkyTrak guidance: 10 ft ample for most golfers; many find 9 ft enough
• Width vs SkyTrak's 12 ft suggestion, and enclosure width (8, 10 or 12 ft) with side clearance
• Left- and right-handed golfers: room for a side-mount unit on both sides
• Slow, careful swing test with a driver at the planned hitting spot

Obstructions and services

• Posts, soffits, doors, windows and shelving inside the swing and ball-flight zone
• Power outlets near the launch monitor, projector and PC
• Wi-Fi or Ethernet at the hitting area (some units are Ethernet only)
• Fluorescent lights, fans and HVAC near a radar unit (FlightScope lists these as interference sources)
• Floor: level, firm surface for the mat
• Light control: windows you can cover for projector contrast
