How we research
Honesty first: YardageBay does not currently run hands-on tests. We have not hit balls on the products we cover and we will never imply that we have. Our guides are researched buyer guides, built like this:
1. Primary sources over opinions
We start from manufacturer product pages, owner's manuals and support articles — for example, the placement distances a manufacturer publishes for its launch monitor. Where we use a third-party number, we name the source.
2. Dated prices
Prices are written as "about $X as of Oct 2026" and link to the page where we checked them. Golf tech goes on sale constantly, so always confirm the live price. If we couldn't verify a price, we leave it out.
3. Total cost of ownership
Many launch monitors lock features behind subscriptions. We add recurring costs to the purchase price so you can compare three-year totals.
4. Room fit as a first-class spec
Placement (behind the ball vs beside it), required depth and ceiling clearance are often what decides the right product. We put them in every comparison table.
5. No invented data
We don't invent accuracy figures, test results or specs. If a manufacturer doesn't publish something, we say "not published."
6. Corrections
Found an error? Tell us and we'll fix it and update the page date.
